Abstract

The background of this research focuses on the importance of work readiness among vocational high school students, particularly in relation to industrial work practice experience and self-image. With the rapid advancement of industry, Indonesia requires competent and skilled human resources. Vocational education, as established in the National Education System Law, aims to prepare students for the workforce. This study seeks to determine the influence of industrial work practice experience and self-image on the work readiness of 11th grade Electrical Installation students at SMKN 1 Wonoasri in the 2023/2024 academic year. This study adopts an ex post facto design with a quantitative approach. The population involved in this research consists of 90 students, and a sample of 47 students was selected using the Slovin formula. Data collection was carried out through questionnaires using a Likert scale model. For data analysis, this study employed the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, multicollinearity test, and autocorrelation test. Hypothesis testing was conducted using multiple linear regression, the coefficient of determination test, t-test, and F-test to address the research hypotheses. The results of this study indicate that (1) industrial work practice experience has a positive effect on work readiness, with a t-value of 4.474 > t-table value of 2.015. (2) Self-image has a positive effect on work readiness, with a t-value of 2.261 > t-table value of 2.015. (3) Industrial work practice experience and self-image collectively have a positive effect on work readiness, with an F-value of 11.662 > F-table value of 3.21. Therefore, it can be concluded that industrial work practice experience and self-image significantly influence work readiness.
