Abstract

The background of this research is that students at SMAN 4 Madiun, especially class X-2, have students who have high feelings of insecurity, characterized by feelings of anxiety, fear, inferiority and lack of confidence. Departing from this problem, the researcher formulated the aim of this research to see the effectiveness of REBT counseling using the cognitive disputation technique to reduce insecure behavior in class X students at SMAN 4 Madiun. This research method is experimental. This research uses a one group pre-test post-test research design. The sampling technique in this research used a purposive sampling technique. The sample taken was class X-2 with a total of 6 students out of 35 respondents. The data collection technique uses an insecure scale questionnaire. The data analysis technique uses the Wilcoxon test via SPSS 26. From the significant results of 0.027 < 0.05, this difference shows that the hypothesis is accepted. This means that there was a decrease in insecure behavior from the 6 students with significant results (asymp. Sig 2-tailed) of 0.027, which means less than 0.05. So it can be concluded that Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy counseling with cognitive disputation techniques can reduce the insecure behavior of class X students at SMAN 4 Madiun.
