Abstract

Cyberbullying behavior is bullying that can be carried out by students in the digital world or cyberspace in the form of harassing, insulting, or mocking someone using the internet via cellphone or other electronic device. Cyberbullying behavior is influenced by internal factors, one of which is empathy and external factors, one of which is neglectful parenting. This research aims to determine the effect of empathy on cyberbullying behavior, neglectful parenting on cyberbullying behavior, empathy and neglectful parenting on cyberbullying behavior. This research method uses an ex-post-facto design. The population in this study was 288 students. And the sample in this study was 92 students/respondents taken using a simple random sampling technique. The data collection technique is in the form of a questionnaire containing written statements. The data analysis technique uses data assumption tests, namely normality tests and hypothesis tests using simple regression tests to determine the influence of empathy on cyberbullying behavior, neglectful parenting on cyberbullying behavior, and multiple regression which aims to determine the influence of empathy and neglectful parenting on cyberbullying behavior together. The research results show that 1) The results of empathy for cyberbullying behavior based on the test results show that the calculated r value is 0.950 < t table 1.986. So it can be concluded that there is no influence of empathy on cyberbullying behavior. The research results show that 2) The results of neglectful parenting on cyberbullying behavior based on the test results show that the calculated r value is 5.661 > t table 1.986. So it can be concluded that there is an influence of empathy on cyberbullying behavior. Result sig. for a simultaneous influence of 0.000 < 0.05 and the calculated f value > f table, namely 37,579 > 3,220, there is an influence between empathy and neglectful parenting on cyberbullying behavior. With the results above, it can be concluded that there is an influence between empathy and neglectful parenting on cyberbullying behavior.
