Abstract
The problem that occurs at this time is the behavior of students who do not have good manners or in Javanese terms it is called ungrateful in their behavior. Every order of social life has character values that need to be maintained and must be preserved, one of which is uploading. In learning, tembang dolanan can be linked to Javanese language subjects to help the process of cultivating communicative character in students, because in tembang dolanan there is an implied meaning contained in each lyric. This research uses a qualitative approach. Qualitative research is a philosophy-based research method used to investigate scientific situations (experiments), where the researcher functions as a tool, data collection, and qualitative analysis that emphasizes meaning. Based on the research results, the process of cultivating communicative character through tembang dolanan went well, there was student interest in tembang dolanan, willingness to learn to learn tembang dolanan, participation in learning tembang dolanan and being able to understand the meaning/significance of tembang dolanan but there were still some students who had difficulty in learning the Javanese language. found in the Dolanan song. Based on the results of cultivating communicative character through tembang dolanan, it can be said that there has been a change seen from the assessment results of the evaluation of tembang dolanan practice with the three assessment aspects including vocals, appearance and appreciation with the lowest result being 71 and the highest score being 85. Conclusion from the interview results from The three subjects experienced difficulties in translating Javanese into Tembang Dolanan. The students found it difficult because they rarely heard the words to the lyrics of Tembang Dolanan. In the process of cultivating communicative character, the role of the teacher is very important in implementation in schools. In tembang dolanan, teachers can be role models for students and become translators in the learning process in class.
