Hylda Dewi Marganing Tiyas, 2024. The Use of PhET (Physics Education Technology) Media in Mathematics Learning in Elementary Schools. Thesis. Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program, FKIP, UNIVERSITAS PGRI MADIUN, Advisor (I) Dr. Endang Sri Maruti, M.Pd. (II) Vivi Rulviana, S. Pd.,M.Pd. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the use of PhET (Physics Education Technology) media in mathematics learning at the elementary school level, with a special focus on fraction material. PhET media is an interactive simulation-based learning tool designed to help students understand mathematical concepts through interesting visualizations and direct interaction. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a case study approach, involving direct observation in class, interviews with teachers and students, and analysis of related documents. This research was conducted at SDN Putat 01, involving fourth grade students as research subjects. Data obtained from observations and interviews were analyzed to identify the impact of using PhET media on students' understanding of fraction material. The results showed that the use of PhET media significantly increased student engagement in the learning process. Students showed high interest and enthusiasm when using this media, which was reflected in their active participation in discussions and exploration of concepts. In addition, PhET media facilitated a better understanding of fraction concepts, where students were able to explain and apply the concept in real situations. The feedback provided by the media also helped students identify errors and improve their understanding. This study recommends the integration of PhET media into the mathematics learning curriculum in elementary schools to improve the quality of education. By utilizing innovative educational technology, it is hoped that students can more easily understand abstract mathematical concepts and increase their learning motivation. These findings are expected to be a reference for educators and policy makers in developing more effective and interesting learning methods.
