Abstract

ABSTRACT The Influence of Political Connections towards Company Value with Financial Performance as a Mediating Variable. This research raised the issue of the influence of political connections towards company value by using mediating variables and control variables based on phenomena which occur in banking companies in Indonesia, namely the weakening of the capital market and the decline in company profits. The aim of this research was to analyze and determine the influence of political connections towards company value with financial performance as a mediating variable and company age and company size as control variables. This research used secondary data with quantitative methods which are processed using the SPSS version 27 application. The population of this research used all companies listed on the 2023 Indonesia Stock Exchange. The sample used was banking companies listed on the IDX for the 2015-2023 period. The data collection technique used was the documentation method, while the data analysis technique used descriptive statistical tests, classical assumption tests, linear regression analysis tests, T tests and Sobel tests. The research results show that political connections have a positive effect towards company value, political connections have no effect towards financial performance, financial performance has a positive effect towards company value, and financial performance variables cannot mediate the effect of political connections towards company value.
