Abstract

Parental involvement in early childhood education is a process or way for families, especially parents, to participate in organizing education to achieve goals. There are several models of parental involvement according to experts, one of which is the Epstein model. Epstein framed six forms of parental involvement, namely parenting education, communication, volunteering, learning at home, decision making and collaborating with the community. The benefits of parental involvement in early childhood education namely parents get knowledge related to child development, the relationship between parents and teachers is well established and makes the school good image. Parental involvement is certainly inseparable from supporting and inhibiting factors. This study aims to determine parental involvement in the Epstein model at Cendekia Kids School. The subjects of this research are principals, teachers and parents at Cendekia Kids School. This research method uses a qualitative approach with the type of field research. The research location is Cendekia Kids School. Data collection techniques through interviews and documentation. This research data analysis technique uses Miles and Huberman model, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that Epstein's parental involvement model is relevant to parental involvement at Cendekia Kids School, which is found in six forms, namely parenting education. Supporting factors for parental involvement are school readiness, relationships or communication between parents and teachers. While the inhibiting factors of parental involvement are educational factors and parents' work.
