Abstract

This research aims to 1) Describe the character of scouting activities, 2) Describe the character of nationalism through scouting activities at MAN 1 Ngawi. The type of research used in this research is qualitative with phenomenological methods. The informants in this research were 12 people, namely 10 Bantara members who took part in scout activities and 2 scout leaders. The data collection techniques used in the research are observation, interviews and documentation which will then be validated using technical triangulation to obtain a conclusion. The results of this research show that scouting is able to build character, including the character of nationalism, in scouting activities and in building nationalist character through general skill requirements, carrying out wandering and exploration activities by loving the environment is able to foster a sense of love for the homeland. The scoutmaster's role is also to provide material using SKU, one of which is teaching the metaphor of the red and white, apart from that, at every inauguration activity, he pays tribute to the red and white and sings a song of thanksgiving, there is also a role as a guide, guiding and supervising the progress of scouting activities.
