Abstract

Student learning motivation at SMPN 2 Geger in the social studies subject History of the subject of the arrival of Islam in the archipelago is still quite low. In the learning process in the classroom teachers still use conventional media in the form of blackboards and lectures in daily learning, with these conditions the researcher implemented smart card learning media for learning media in the classroom. This research is expected to 1) Find out the implementation of the use of smart card media to increase student learning motivation in the Social Sciences History subject at SMPN 2 Geger, Madiun Regency; 2) Knowing the impact of implementing the use of smart card media to increase student learning motivation in the Social Sciences History subject at SMPN 2 Geger, Madiun Regency. This research method is included in qualitative research with a descriptive type. Data collection techniques use observation, interviews and documentation. The data sources taken were primary and secondary data sources. The results of this research are 1) Implementation of the use of smart card media to increase student learning motivation at SMPN 2 Geger Madiun district by 80% 2) The positive impact of implementation of the use of smart card media can increase learning motivation. Based on the research results presented, it can be concluded that the implementation of smart card media in learning Social Studies History at SMPN 2 Geger has had a significant positive impact on student learning motivation. The use of this media has succeeded in transforming the classroom atmosphere to be more interactive, fun and student-centered, replacing conventional methods which tend to be monotonous. Smart card media has proven to be effective in increasing students' understanding of historical material, especially on the topic of the arrival of Islam in the archipelago, with a significant level of successful implementation and can be used long term to support learning in the classroom.
