Abstract

This study aims to determine students' perceptions of accounting teaching skills of PLP students and how to improve student learning through teaching skills. Teaching skills consist of: 1) questioning skills, 2) reinforcement skills, 3) opening and closing skills, 4) classroom management skills, 5) small group and individual teaching skills, 6) variation skills, 7) explanation skills, and 8) small group discussion guiding skills. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach, which involves data collection through interviews and documentation. The targets of the study were students, supervising teachers, homeroom teachers and PLP 2 lecturers. The results showed that students' perceptions of PLP 2 students' teaching skills out of 8 types of skills were good. However, the skills that were still lacking according to students were explanation skills due to lack of mastery of the material and lack of student confidence when explaining. This makes it quite difficult for students to focus on understanding the material given. Teaching skills can increase students' interest in learning by using varied learning.
