Abstract

The egg-laying business promises to be profitable as the demand for egg products, especially chicken eggs, continues to grow with population growth and purchasing power. Effective management of laying hens is essential to achieve high productivity. Key aspects of rearing management include the selection of quality breeds, a good housing system with adequate ventilation, lighting and hygiene, and a hen rearing system. Laying hen health is also critical, with the implementation of biosecurity systems through sanitation, isolation and vaccination to prevent the spread of disease. Proper feed and nutrition, including balanced ration composition and vitamin administration, as well as clean drinking water, ensure optimal egg production and good hen health. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between these variables and the improvement of the layer farm using the SEM-PLS method and also to select strategies for the improvement of the layer farm using the SWOT method. The data used is by giving questionnaires to layer chicken farms in Magetan Regency. After analysis using the SEM-PLS method, the results showed that the significant effect is feed and nutrition of laying hens affect the production of laying hens with a value of 0 (<0.05). After conducting SEM-PLS analysis, SWOT analysis was also carried out, and obtained from the SWOT matrix analysis obtained a total score of internal factors (IFAS) of 1.019 and external factors (EFAS) of 1.303. Furthermore, after the preparation of the quadrant matrix, several important strategies were obtained to be used in improving the laying hen business in Magetan, namely the first alternative strategy is to plan marketing as well as possible with the distribution of egg rations properly to each buyer and the second alternative strategy is to survey suppliers of agricultural raw materials to get the best quality and price.
