Abstract

This research aims to determine the application of the storytelling method using hand puppets in improving the listening skills of grade 1 elementary school students. The approach to this research uses a qualitative approach. The definition of qualitative research is research based on philosophy used for research in scientific conditions (experiments) where the researcher as an instrument for qualitative data collection and analysis techniques places more emphasis on meaning. The type of research used is classroom action research. Classroom Action Research is a type of research carried out in the classroom during the learning process, which aims to improve and improve the quality of learning. Data collection techniques are carried out using observation, tests and documentation. In this research, the subjects used were 1st grade students at SDN Ngegong with a total of 31 students, 14 males and 17 females. The results of this research are that the application of the storytelling method using hand puppets to improve listening skills in elementary school students. In the first cycle, the results obtained from the listening indicators were 72% and in the second cycle the results obtained from the listening indicators were 80% of the data. This assistance can be explained that by learning using the storytelling method using hand puppets, it can improve the listening power of class I students at SDN Ngegong.
