Abstract
This study aims to determine the increase in students' understanding of science concepts through the project-based learning model. The research used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) consisting of two cycles. The subjects in this study were 14 fourth-grade students of SDN 01 Nambangan Kidul. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques use documentation, observation, and tests. Instruments in the form of grids or documentation checks, observation sheets, and test questions. Data analysis techniques use qualitative and quantitative data. The results of the study showed an increase in understanding of science concepts from each cycle. At the planning stage, preparation is needed by compiling teaching modules that are in accordance with the theory on the grid or documentation check sheet, namely cycle I and cycle II there are 19 components that are in accordance with the guidelines. At the implementation stage, the researcher observed the learning process using the project-based learning model, cycle I said the learning process had not been implemented optimally and cycle II had been implemented optimally. At the improvement stage, it can be seen from the test scores of students' understanding of science concepts after working on the test questions. Cycle I, the percentage of completion was 64.28%, and in cycle II, the percentage of completion increased to 85.71%. The average score obtained by students also increased, which was initially only 52.14, then in cycle I it increased to 73.42 and cycle II to 84.35. It can be concluded that the project-based learning model assisted by Canva media can improve students' understanding of science concepts in science learning in class IV SDN 01 Nambangan Kidul.
