Abstract

The developments in the 21st century will continue to undergo renewal so Indonesia needs a generation which is adaptive to changing times and can overcome global issues that focus on SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). In the Merdeka Curriculum 2024, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) learning model is a learning model that integrates several scientific disciplines, this model is relatively new so it is in line with 21st century skills. The application of the STEAM model is always related to critical thinking, collaboration and practice. Critical thinking skills are students' ability to actualize them selves to find the solutions and solve the problems. The first place where students get the opportunity to learn IPAS is in the elementary school. IPAS is a subject based on the study of interactions between living things and their complex problems. This research aims to analyze the STEAM learning model on students' critical thinking skills of IPAS material in the fifth grade students. This research uses descriptive qualitative type which was carried out on the fifth grade students at SDN 5 Prajegan, Ponorogo Regency. Data collection in this research was done by using questionnaires, observations and interviews. The average percentage result of the questionnaire from the STEAM learning model indicators shows a figure of (82%), it means that it is in the 'very good' criteria. Meanwhile, the indicators for students' critical thinking skills are classified as 'very good' with an average of (87%). The results of the analysis mean that the STEAM learning model can sharpen, improve and has positive impacts on students' critical thinking abilities so that they can develop their competencies.
