Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors that cause adolescents to marry early in Ngrayun District, Ponorogo Regency. This research uses a qualitative approach with the type of phenomenological research. The research informants consisted of adolescents who carried out early marriage in Ngrayun District, Ponorogo Regency who were selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis uses the Miles and Huberman model which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The validity of the data was tested through source triangulation and triangulation techniques. The results of the study show that early marriage is influenced by five main factors, namely family, economic, educational, socio-cultural, and social factors. Family factors are influenced through parenting patterns, parental consent, and family economic conditions. The educational factor is related to the low sustainability of education, while the socio-cultural factor is influenced by the norms of society that considers marriage at a young age as a natural thing. The influence of peers and the social environment also strengthens adolescents' decision to get married at a young age. These five factors are interrelated in shaping the decision of teenagers to marry early in Ngrayun District, Ponorogo Regency.
