Abstract
This study is motivated by the phenomenon of the quarter-life crisis experienced by final-year university students, characterized by anxiety about the future, uncertainty regarding life direction, and emotional instability. This condition is influenced by both internal factors—specifically self-control—and external factors, namely the intensity of TikTok usage. The study aims to determine the influence of self-control and the intensity of TikTok usage on the quarter-life crisis among final-year students at Universitas PGRI Madiun. A quantitative approach with an ex post facto design was employed. The population consisted of 583 final year students, with a sample of 85 students selected using simple random sampling based on Slovin's formula. Data collection was conducted using a Likert-scale questionnaire that had undergone validity and reliability testing. Statistical analysis was performed to examine the influence of the variables both partially and simultaneously. The results indicate that self-control has a significant partial effect on the quarter-life crisis, with a calculated t-value of 4.681 and a significance value of <0.001. The intensity of TikTok usage also significantly influences the quarter life crisis, with a calculated t-value of 4.072 and a significance value of <0.001. Simultaneously, self-control and the intensity of TikTok usage significantly influence the quarter-life crisis, with a calculated F-value of 28.858 and a significance value of <0.001. Furthermore, the Adjusted R-Square value of 0.399 indicates that these two variables explain 39.9% of the variation in the quarter-life crisis. These findings demonstrate that self-control and the intensity of TikTok usage play a crucial role in influencing the level of quarter-life crisis among students. Therefore, students are encouraged to enhance their self-control and use social media wisely to mitigate negative impacts on their psychological well-being.
