Abstract
ABSTRACT Inggit Listi Tri Rahmahdianti. 2025. Implementation Of Indonesian Language Learning Based On Local Folktales Using Interactive Storytelling Techniques In Fifth-Grade Students Of Sd Negeri Karangrejo, Kecamatan Kawedanan, Kabupaten Magetan. Thesis. Master’s Program in Indonesian Language and Literature Education. Graduate School, Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA). Supervisor I: Dr. Elva Nuraina, M.Si, Supervisor II: Dr. Dwi Rohman Soleh, S.S., M.Pd. Keywords: local folktales, interactive storytelling, Indonesian language learning, case study, elementary school. This research is motivated by the low reading interest and speaking skills of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri Karangrejo, Kecamatan Kawedanan, Kabupaten Magetan, as well as the lack of introduction to local wisdom in Indonesian language learning. The objective is to describe the implementation of Indonesian language learning based on local folktales using interactive storytelling techniques and to analyze its impact on student engagement and language abilities. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. The subjects were fifth-grade students. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with teachers and students, and document analysis of recorded storytelling and student writings, then analyzed interactively using the Miles and Huberman model. The findings indicate that local folktales, such as legends and fairy tales from Magetan, successfully sparked students' curiosity and cultural pride. The interactive storytelling technique involving questioning, role-play, and group discussions effectively improved speaking confidence, fluency, and vocabulary mastery. Students also showed enhanced listening skills and the ability to retell stories in a structured manner. In conclusion, the implementation of local folktale-based learning with interactive storytelling techniques has a positive impact and is recommended as an innovative, contextual, and meaningful approach to Indonesian language instruction in elementary schools.
