Abstract

Zainal Arifin. 2026. Internet of Things-Based Multi-Room AC Control System with Hysteresis Algorithm Integrated with a Mobile Application. Undergraduate Thesis. Informatics Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas PGRI Madiun. Supervisors: (I) Saifulloh, S.Kom., M.Kom.; (II) Puguh Jayadi, S.Kom., M.Kom. Air conditioner (AC) usage in campus classrooms is still largely controlled manually via physical remotes, creating a potential for energy waste when units remain on in empty rooms. This study aims to design, implement, and test an Internet of Things (IoT)-based multi-room AC control system featuring a hysteresis algorithm and mobile application integration. The system was developed using the prototyping model. Key components include an ESP32 as the central controller, a DHT22 sensor for room temperature monitoring, an HLK-LD2410C sensor for occupancy detection, a KY-005 IR transmitter for sending AC control signals, and a KY-022 IR receiver to facilitate infrared signal cloning. The backend was built using Express.js and MySQL, utilizing MQTT Broker and WebSocket for data communication, while the mobile application was developed using Flutter. Testing results indicate that the mobile application achieved a 100% success rate across 32 scenarios using Black Box Testing. Hardware testing achieved a 94.12% success rate, with 16 out of 17 scenarios succeeding. Overall, the system achieved a 97.96% success rate across 49 test scenarios, with an average temperature reading deviation of 0.30°C for the DHT22 sensor. These results demonstrate that the system functions as designed and has the potential to improve AC energy efficiency based on room temperature and occupancy.
