Abstract

ABSTRACT Purwandhani Sri Pramudya. 2026. Undergraduate Thesis. Strengthening Legal Awareness and Community Participation through Gotong Royong based Siskamling (Neighborhood Security System) in Mangkujayan Urban Village, Magetan District, Magetan Regency. Pancasila and Civic Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas PGRI Madiun. Supervisors: (I) Dra. Nuswantari, M.H., (II) Wawan Kokotiasa, S.IP., M.Si. This study aims to analyze community legal awareness, describe forms of community participation, and analyze the role of legal awareness in strengthening community participation through the gotong royong based Siskamling in RW 03, Mangkujayan Urban Village, Magetan District, Magetan Regency. The study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The theoretical framework utilizes Soerjono Soekanto’s theory of legal awareness, Abu Huraerah’s concept of community participation, and Sherry R. Arnstein’s Ladder of Participation theory as a supporting framework. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and subsequently analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was tested using source and method triangulation. The results indicate that community legal awareness is at a good level, characterized by an understanding of regulations, positive attitudes, and compliance in the implementation of Siskamling. Community participation is manifested through contributions of ideas, labor, material resources, skills, and social engagement. The conclusion is that the gotong royong based Siskamling plays a role in strengthening legal awareness and community participation, thereby supporting neighborhood security and the preservation of gotong royong values.
