Madiun: Masters Program in Indonesian Language and Literature Education, Postgraduate Faculty, PGRI University Madiun. Supervisor (I) Dr. Panji Kuncoro Hadi, M.Pd., (II) Dr. Agung Nasrulloh Saputro, M.Pd. Keywords: Role Playing Model, Media Realia, Reading Comprehension, Narrative Discourse This Study aims to describe and explain (1) the application of role playing and realia models in learning to read narrative discourse comprehension in grade 5 students of SDN Lembah 02 Dolopo, (2) obstacles -obstacles faced by teachers and students in learning to read comprehension of narrative discourse by using role playing and realia models, (3) solutions provided to face obstacles in learning to read comprehension of narrative discourse using role playing and realia models. The research method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method. Sources of data used in this study are primary and secondary data sources, namely the results of documentation, interviews, and tests with informants. Informants in this study were grade 4 teachers and grade 4 students. Data were collected by observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out in three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, conclusion drawing and verification. The results of the study show that: (1) Learning to read comprehension of narrative discourse with role playing models and media realia is able to create a new pleasant learning atmosphere for students, encourage the growth of students' reading comprehension skills, encourage students to be brave in demonstrating the characters in narrative discourse, (3) the obstacles faced by teachers and students in carrying out reading comprehension learning are the lack of conducive classroom atmosphere, so that students are less focused on learning, especially in composing sentences, choosing words, and compiling language styles, (3) the solutions given to face The obstacle during the learning process of reading comprehension using role playing models and realia media is that it requires teachers who are able to become good learning facilitators. Teachers also need to motivate students who have less interest in reading so that students are able to increase their reading interest so that students are able to follow the learning process of reading comprehension smoothly.
