Abstract

ABSTRACT Belina Listyo Ningtyas. 2025. Development of QR Code-Based Bigbook Media to Improve Literacy Skills of Phase A Elementary School Students in Madiun City. Thesis. Madiun: Master of Social Science Education Study Program, Postgraduate Faculty, Universitas PGRI Madiun. Supervisors (I) Dr. Sudarmiani, M.Pd., (II) Dr. Yudi Hartono, M.Pd. Keywords: Big Book, Literacy, QR Code, Phase A Students This research focused on developing a Big Book media integrated with QR Codes to meet validity, practicality, and relevance standards for Phase A students. Furthermore, this research aimed to verify the impact of using this media on improving children's basic literacy competencies. The development framework in this research refers to the ADDIE model, which includes a structured analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation phase. Forty-seven Phase A students participated. The research instruments included an expert validation questionnaire, observations, a user response questionnaire, and a literacy skills test (pretest-posttest). The results of the feasibility test by three expert validators (Material, Media, and Language) showed an average feasibility percentage of 94.28% (highly valid). Statistical analysis using a paired t-test indicated a highly significant increase in literacy skills after using the media, evidenced by a χ value of 22.94 (with a χ table of 2.013 at df=46) and an N-gain of 0.76 (highly valid). Teacher responses showed a 4.5% approval rating (strongly agree), and student responses showed a 98% approval rating. The study concluded that the QR Code-based Big Book media proved feasible, practical, and highly effective as a pedagogical intervention to strengthen students' literacy foundations in early elementary education.
