Abstract
This study aims to describe the implementation of CIRC model and word cards, analyze the improvement of narrative writing skills, and describe students' responses. This classroom action research used Kemmis and Mc Taggart design in two cycles with 36 grade V students of SD Negeri 1 Ganungkidul as subjects.Data collection employed observation, tests, and documentation. Results showed mean scores increased from 64.9 (pre-cycle) to 81.9 (cycle II) with classical mastery increasing from 39% to 86%. N-Gain value of 0.48 indicated moderate effectiveness. All writing skill aspects improved, with content and organization being most significant. Student activity increased from 69% to 84%, showing positive responses toward learning. CIRC model and word cards proved effective in improving students' narrative writing skills.
