Abstract

The background of this research is as big as 80% students experience difficulty especially on speaking subject. Factors that causing that problem is student feels shame to speak in front of class, student can not speak correctly and expressively and teacher applying inappropriate learning method. Therefore need a problem solving namely one of the ways by applying role play method. Role play method chosen in this research because through this model student expected can practice saying words with its pronunciation, correct intonation, smooth, and expressive while playing role play. The purpose of this research is to describe the speaking skill learning implementation through playing role play method, student learning result is speaking skill, and problems that appear while learning process carried out. These researches belong to descriptive research with qualitative approach since describe or illustrate the research result concerning student learning process based on the finding on field. The design is cyclic class action research that done collaboratively. Every cycle through the stage of planning, execution, observation, and reflection. Subject in this research is sixth grade student of 2 Ngudikan elementary school that amounted of 15 students. Data collection technique applying observation, test and field notes. Data analysis technique using qualitative descriptive analysis. The result of this research are, teacher activity implementation from 100% with implementation score 90,63 that the highest score at first cycle become 100% with 98,44 whereas also the highest score on second cycle. Student learning result showed with the average score of first cycle as big as 68,27 and second cycle is 81,47. Meanwhile, the enhancement of student learning result can be seen from classical completeness learning result on first cycle that reach 53,33% and reach the target of classical completeness on second cycle that increase to 93,33%. Based on research result, it can be conclude that the application of role play can increase student speaking skill both individually or classically.
