ABSTRACT Ferianika Y. 2026. The Use of Picture Books to Stimulate Reading Interest in Third Grade Students at SD Negeri 2 Surodakan, Trenggalek Regency. Thesis. Master's Program in Indonesian Language and Literature Education, Graduate School of PGRI University Madiun (UNIPMA). Supervisor 1: Prof. Dr. H. Supri Wahyudi Utomo, M.Pd., Supervisor II. Dr. Dwi Rohman Soleh, SS., M.Pd. Keywords: Books, Picture Stories, Reading Interest, Elementary School This study aims to 1). Describe the process of utilizing picture books in Indonesian language learning for third-grade students at SD Negeri 2 Surodakan: 2). Analyze the effect of using picture books on increasing the reading interest of third-grade students. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive study design. The research subjects included third-grade students at SD Negeri 2 Surodakan in Trenggalek Regency. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, documentation, and assessment of student learning outcomes. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model, which included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study show that 1). The use of picture storybooks in reading lessons in third grade at SD Negeri 2 Surodakan has been effectively implemented as the main supporting medium in the learning process, 2). The use of picture storybooks has a positive impact on the reading interest of third grade students at SD Negeri 2 Surodakan.
