Master of Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program. PGRI Postgraduate School, University of Madiun (UNIPMA). This study aims to describe the implementation of local wisdom in Indonesian language learning for fourth-grade students through the utilization of the school environment at SD Negeri 1 Sumberejo, Durenan District, Trenggalek Regency. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach. The research subjects consisted of the fourth-grade teacher and students of SD Negeri 1 Sumberejo. Data were collected through observations of teacher and student activities, semi-structured interviews with teachers and students, and documentation in the form of teaching modules and learning activities. Data validity was ensured through technique and source triangulation. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of local wisdom in Indonesian language learning has been carried out in a planned and contextual manner in accordance with the principles of the Merdeka Curriculum. Teachers integrate local wisdom and the school environment into the planning and implementation of Indonesian language learning, particularly in descriptive and narrative text materials. The utilization of the school environment as a learning resource increases students’ participation, understanding, and language skills. Moreover, local wisdom-based learning contributes to the development of character values such as cooperation, responsibility, environmental awareness, and appreciation of local culture, which align with the Profile of Pancasila Students. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the implementation of local wisdom through the utilization of the school environment in Indonesian language learning has a positive impact on the learning process and students’ character development. Therefore, local wisdom-based learning is recommended to be continuously developed as a contextual learning strategy in elementary schools.
