Abstract

The era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 demands digital transformation in the field of education, including the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a learning innovation. This study aims to develop an AI-based e-module to improve students’ critical thinking skills and learning outcomes in the Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) subject for fifth-grade elementary school students in Kartoharjo District, Madiun City. This research employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE development model, which consists of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation stages. The research subjects included fifth-grade students and IPAS teachers at public elementary schools in Kartoharjo District, Madiun City. The instruments used in this study consisted of validation sheets from material, language, and instructional design and media experts, teacher and student response questionnaires, as well as tests of critical thinking skills and learning outcomes. The data were analyzed using quantitative and qualitative descriptive techniques. The validation results indicated that the AI-based e-module was categorized as very feasible, with feasibility percentages of 96% from material experts, 97% from language experts, and 98% from instructional design and media experts. Teacher and student responses to the e-module were classified as very positive, with percentages of 95% and 95%, respectively. The conclusion of this study is that the developed AI-based e-module is effective in improving students’ critical thinking skills and learning outcomes in the IPAS subject. This product is expected to serve as an alternative innovative, interactive, and adaptive digital teaching material that meets the learning needs of 21st-century elementary education.
