Kata kunci: menulis, deskripsi, mind mapping, dan media gambar Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan (1) penggunaan model pembelajaran mind mapping berbantuan media gambar dapat meningkatan keterampilan menulis deskripsi siswa kelas V SDN 1 Kutorejo Kecamatan Kertosono Kabupaten Nganjuk dan (2) aktivitas siswa dan guru kelas V SDN 1 Kutorejo Kecamatan Kertosono Kabupaten Nganjuk saat mengikuti pembelajaran menulis deskripsi melalui model pembelajaran mind mapping berbantuan media gambar. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas dengan dua siklus penelitian. Hasil penelitian ini adalah (1) Model pembelajaran Mind Mapping berbantuan media gambar dapat meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis deskripsi. Hal ini dapat terlihat dari ketuntasan belajar siklus I sebesar 74,3% dengan rata-rata nilai siswa 69,4 sedangkan pada siklus II nilai rata-rata siswa adalah 78,8 dengan ketuntasan 89,1% atau 33 siswa tuntas belajar dengan Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (KKM) >65, dan (2) aktivitas siswa yang diperoleh pada siklus I dengan skor 22,48 dan rata-rata tiap indikator 2,81 dengan kategori baik, serta meningkat pada siklus II dengan jumlah 27,05 dan rata-rata tiap indikator 3,38 dengan kategori sangat baik. Aktivitas Guru dalam melaksanakan pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia menggunakan model pembelajaran Mind Mapping berbantuan gambar sudah baik dan tepat sesui dengan rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran. Hal ini terlihat dari hasil observasi yang menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata yang diperoleh guru pada siklus I adalah 3,2 dengan kategori baik, dan pada siklus II mendapat skor 3,6 dengan kategori sangat baik. Keywords: writing, description, mind mapping, and image media This study aims to describe (1) the use of mind mapping learning model assisted by image media can improve the descriptive writing skills of fifth grade students of SDN 1 Kutorejo, Kertosono District, Nganjuk Regency and (2) the activities of fifth grade students and teachers of SDN 1 Kutorejo, Kertosono District, Nganjuk Regency when participating in descriptive writing learning through mind mapping learning model assisted by image media. This study is a classroom action research with two research cycles. The results of this study are (1) Mind Mapping learning model assisted by image media can improve students' ability in writing descriptions. This can be seen from the completion of learning cycle I of 74.3% with an average student score of 69.4 while in cycle II the average student score was 78.8 with a completion of 89.1% or 33 students completed learning with the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM) > 65, and (2) student activity obtained in cycle I with a score of 22.48 and an average of each indicator of 2.81 with a good category, and increased in cycle II with a total of 27.05 and an average of each indicator of 3.38 with a very good category. Teacher activity in implementing Indonesian language learning using the Mind Mapping learning model assisted by images is good and appropriate in accordance with the learning implementation plan. This can be seen from the results of observations which show that the average value obtained by teachers in cycle I is 3.2 with a good category, and in cycle II they get a score of 3.6 with a very good category.
