Abstract
Learning media in the world of education is one of the supporting elements in the learning process. Learning media is one of the intermediaries for teachers to present lesson materials effectively and help students more easily understand the discussion in the learning process, one of which is by using visual learning media that is appropriate to the learning material in the classroom. Therefore, learning media is useful as an intermediary for conveying the material given by the teacher to students at school. This type of research is field research conducted at SDN 01 Winongo, Madiun City. This study aims to describe the role of using visual learning media in increasing student interest in learning, this study uses data collection techniques, interviews, observations, and documentation. Interviews were conducted by interviewing Mrs. Kun Mariati, S.Pd as the Principal at SDN 01 Winongo, Madiun City and interviewing Mrs. Fiki Suryaningrum, S.Pd.I as the class teacher and interviewing fifth grade students at SDN 01 Winongo. From the results of the research that researchers have done, the use of visual learning media at SDN 01 Winongo, Madiun City has a role in helping students who have not understood the material given by the teacher during the learning process in the classroom. The learning media used is visual learning media as an intermediary for students to more easily understand the material provided by the teacher. Therefore, this learning media can be an alternative for teachers as a more effective teaching material. In addition to the benefits of this learning media, there are supporting and inhibiting factors of visual learning media. The supporting factor is that students can better understand the learning material with the help of an LCD or projector that contains a still image, moving images and so on. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors are a lack of teacher human resources, teachers have difficulty managing time, students are not serious, lack of infrastructure in the classroom is in progress and the minimal availability of LCD or projectors.
