Keywords: storytelling, cooperative, and paired storytelling This research aims to describe and explain (1) the use of the cooperative model of paired storytelling can improve the speaking skills of class V students at SDN Serag, Pulung District, Ponorogo Regency, (2) the activities of teachers and students in learning speaking skills using the cooperative model of paired storytelling for class V students SDN Serag, Pulung District, Ponorogo Regency, (3) student responses in learning speaking skills using the cooperative model of paired storytelling for fifth grade students at SDN Serag, Pulung District, Ponorogo Regency, and (4) student learning outcomes in learning speaking skills using the cooperative model of students' paired storytelling Class V of SDN Serag, Pulung District, Ponorogo Regency. This research is classroom action research with two research cycles. The results of this research are (1) the application of cooperative paired storytelling can improve students' storytelling abilities in Indonesian language learning, especially in descriptive essay material in class V of SDN Serag, Pulung District, Ponorogo Regency, (2) the most dominant teacher activity is observing student activities and guiding students. in the teaching and learning process if there are obstacles. Teacher activity in cycle I was 3.33%. Student activities are listening, paying attention, and relating lessons to everyday life, student activity in cycle I was 3.58%. Meanwhile, in cycle II there was an increase in teacher activity of 3.91%, while student activity also increased by 3.90% in Indonesian language learning activities in speaking material which reflected the implementation of cooperative learning using paired storytelling, (3) student responses in understanding essay material. narrative and description using the application of cooperative paired storytelling as much as 97.1%, and (4) the results of this test in cycle 1 were 26 students achieving individual mastery with a percentage of 74.28%. In cycle II, students were also tested by telling stories about their experiences which were adjusted to the indicators. From the test results, almost all students completed 91.42%.
