Abstract
This study aims to describe the implementation of free poetry writing learning by utilizing the school environment as a source of inspiration for fifth-grade students at SDN Sidorejo 02, Kebonsari Subdistrict, Madiun Regency, in the academic year 2024/2025. The background of this research is based on the low interest and ability of students in writing poetry, as well as the lack of utilization of the surrounding environment as a contextual and meaningful learning medium. The approach used in this research is a qualitative approach with a case study method. The results showed that the implementation of free poetry writing learning by utilizing the school environment can increase students' motivation, creativity, and ability to write poetry. The school environment utilized includes gardens, yards, and the atmosphere of activities at school. In conclusion, the utilization of the school environment as a learning resource in free poetry writing learning has been proven effective in improving students' writing skills and making learning more enjoyable and meaningful.
