ABSTRACT Ike Karuniawati . 2023. Improving Ability to Write Descriptive Texts Through Inquiry Methods and Image Media for Class VIStudents of SDN Kaligunting 01 Mejayan Academic Year 2024/2025. Thesis. Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program, Masters Program, Postgraduate, University of PGRI Madiun. Advisor (1) Dr. Dwi Setiyadi, MM, (2) Dr. Agung Nasrulloh Saputro, M.Pd. This study aims to determine the increase in the ability to write descriptive text in class VI students of SDN Kaligunting 01 Mejayan in the 2024/2025 academic year through the inquiry method and media images. This type of research is Classroom Action Research. The research subjects were class VI students of SDN Kaligunting 01 Mejayan for the academic year 2024/2025, with a total of 31 students. Data collection techniques using the method of observation, testing and documentation. The data obtained were analyzed using a quantitative approach. The results showed that the average ability to write descriptions of students in the pre-cycle was 69.4 with a mastery level of 45% (low); increased in cycle I with an average of 73.3 with a student mastery level of 61% (enough). In cycle II, students' ability to write descriptions reached an average of 78.2 (high) with a completeness level of 81%. Student activity data in cycle I became 35.5% and increased again in cycle II to 42% (active). This shows an increase in student learning activity in each cycle. Meanwhile, teacher activity data showed an average of 59.9% and increased to 78.6% (high). From the results of this study it can be concluded that the inquiry method and image media can improve the ability to write descriptive text in class VI students of SDN Kaligunting 01 Mejayan in the 2024/2025 academic year.
