Oktaviana Nur Insan. 2025. Development of “Pak Harun” Learning Media Based on Discovery Learning to Improve Students’ Motivation and Cognitive Abilities. Thesis. Physics Education Study Program, FKIP, Universitas PGRI Madiun. Supervisors (I) Dr. Tantri Mayasari, S.Peserta Didik., M.Peserta Didik, , (II) Farida Huriawati, S.Si., M.Si. Problems that arise in SMA Negeri 4 Madiun show that approximately 75% of students have low motivation to learn physics and the other 85% show less than optimal cognitive abilities. This study aims to develop interactive learning media "PAK HARUN" (Papan Fisika Harta Karun) based on Discovery Learning and to test its feasibility, response, and effectiveness in improving students' motivation and cognitive abilities. This study uses the ADDIE development model ( Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation ) with research subjects of grade XI students of SMA Negeri 4 Madiun. The research instruments include validation sheets (media and questions), motivation questionnaires, cognitive tests (pretest–posttest), and student response sheets. Data were analyzed using qualitative and quantitative descriptive for validation and response, as well as N-gain tests and paired t-tests to measure improvements in motivation and cognitive abilities. The results of the study showed that the PAK HARUN media developed using the ADDIE model received a media expert validation score of 92.5% (very suitable) and a material expert validation score of 90 % (very suitable). Students' responses to the media reached 91% ( very good). The increase in learning motivation was indicated by an N-gain value of 0.62 (medium-high category) . Students' cognitive abilities also increased with an average pretest of 54.23 to a posttest of 84.51 , with an N-gain of 0.65. (medium–high category) . The results of the paired t-test on the motivation and cognitive ability test showed Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.000 < 0.05 , so there was a significant difference between the results before and after treatment. Based on these results, PAK HARUN interactive learning media based on Discovery Learning is effective in increasing students' motivation and cognitive abilities in physics subjects.
