Abstract
Watie, Ritha Hima. 2025. Analysis of Errors in the Use of Indonesian Sentences in the Results of Writing Explanatory Texts of Class V Students of SDN Munggut 03, Wungu District, Madiun Regency. Thesis. Master Program in Indonesian Language and Literature Education, Postgraduate School, Universitas PGRI Madiun. Advisors (I) Dr. Dwi Rohman Soleh, S.S., M.Pd.; (II) Dr. Muhammad Binur Huda, M.Pd. Keywords: sentence errors, explanatory texts, elementary school students. This study aims to analyze errors in the use of Indonesian sentences in the results of writing explanatory texts of class V students of SDN Munggut 03, Wungu District, Madiun Regency. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with 16 students as research subjects. Data collection techniques are carried out through documentation of student writing, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman analysis model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study showed that there were four main types of errors made by students in writing explanatory texts, namely: (1) sentence structure errors, such as incomplete and ineffective sentences, (2) punctuation errors, such as improper use of capital letters and commas, (3) diction selection errors, namely the use of words that are not in context and not standard, and (4) spelling errors, such as spelling words that are not in accordance with the General Guidelines for Indonesian Spelling (PUEBI). Of the 16 students, 14 students (87.5%) made sentence structure errors and spelling errors, while 13 students (81.25%) made errors in diction and punctuation. The conclusion of this study is that most students still have difficulty in constructing sentences that are in accordance with good and correct Indonesian language rules. These results indicate the need to improve the quality of writing learning, especially in the linguistic aspect, so that students can write explanatory texts more accurately and effectively.
