Abstract
Venesia Putri Oktavianingrum, 2025, Chemical Castration as a Deterrent Effect: Castration Policy for Pedophiles in the Efforts of Child Protection. Skripsi. Law Departement, UNIVERSITAS PGRI MADIUN. Advisor (I) Dr. Sulistya Eviningrum, S.H., M.H. (II) Dimas Pramodya Dwipayana, S.H., M.H. This study examines chemical castration as a deterrent measure for pedophiles in child protection. The aim is to assess the implementation of chemical castration as an option to provide a deterrent effect, as well as to review the criminological aspects and the protection of children's rights for victims. The method used is normative legal research with data analysis through content analysis and literature study. The results indicate that chemical castration can reduce the incidence of sexual crimes against children, in accordance with Government Regulation Number 70 of 2020. The study concludes that (1) chemical castration is effective as a punishment to provide a deterrent effect, (2) pedophilia harms children and criminology plays a role in crime prevention, and (3) legal protection for victims must include education, rehabilitation, and psychological support. The recommendations include first, evaluating the effectiveness of chemical castration; second, increasing public awareness about sexual violence; third, providing legal protection for victims; fourth, seeking professional help for victims; and fifth, reinforcing the articles in regulations to impose effective punishments.
