Abstract
This study aims to improve the speaking skills of early childhood children through the implementation of the Snakes and Ladders story game. Speaking skills are an important aspect for children in expressing feelings, ideas, and communicating. This Classroom Action Research (CAR) was conducted at Pembina State Kindergarten in Madiun using the Kemmis and McTaggart model in two cycles, each of which included planning, action, observation, and reflection. The study subjects were 15 children in grade A3, with a focus on five children whose speaking skills fell below the language development criteria. Research data was obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed descriptively using qualitative and quantitative approaches, using triangulation techniques to ensure data validity. The results showed an increase in the learning completion percentage from 66.67% in the pre-cycle to 73.3% in the first cycle, and reaching 100% in the second cycle. The snakes and ladders story game has been proven effective in increasing participation and self-confidence, and can be a fun and beneficial learning strategy for developing early childhood language skills.
