Abstract

Language is used as a tool for interaction, both in communication and in giving and receiving information to meet life's needs. Language generally has two forms, spoken and written. Both forms serve the same purpose of conveying information. Language has its own structure, both in terms of sound and form. The science that studies the form of language is morphology. Within it are morphological processes such as affixation, reduplication, and abbreviation. These three morphological processes are always present in any linguistic form, particularly written language. For example, morphological processes in the subtitles of the YouTube channel Invoice Indonesia. This YouTube channel features educational videos on topics such as history, national information, and political issues. As an educational channel, it uses standard language provided in two forms: spoken and subtitles or text overlays. This study aims to determine the forms and processes of affixation, reduplication, and abbreviation in the subtitles of the YouTube channel Invoice Indonesia and to determine their relevance to the learning of explanatory texts in Indonesian. This study was conducted on the YouTube channel Invoice Indonesia as the research object, with 10 videos as samples. The study employed a qualitative descriptive method to address research questions related to who, what, and how an event occurs. Data collection techniques included three methods: free-flowing conversation observation, note-taking, and documentation. Data validity in this study was ensured through careful observation, sufficient references, and teacher interviews. Data analysis was conducted by classifying data according to categories, analyzing classified data, interpreting data, and then drawing conclusions from the data. Based on the research, a total of 1,033 data points were obtained, divided into three parts, namely 930 affixation data points, 69 reduplication data points, and 34 abbreviation data points. Based on discussions with Indonesian language teachers, it was found that the relevance between affixation, reduplication, and abbreviation in the subtitles of the YouTube channel Invoice Indonesia, November 2024 edition, and the learning of Indonesian explanatory texts is not perfect. However, affixation, reduplication, and abbreviation remain relevant to other aspects of Indonesian language learning.
