Abstract

Self-disclosure is an important communication skill in creating positive personal relationships. Self-disclosure has 5 aspects in it, Amount (Frequency), Valence (Valence), Accuracy/Honesty (Honesty), Intention (Information), Intimacy (Measuring depth). This research is motivated by the low level of self-disclosure in students, this can be seen from the results of observations and interviews conducted at SMK Negeri 1 Wonoasri, Madiun Regency. This study uses a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The subjects were six students selected through purposive sampling techniques and measured using a selfdisclosure scale. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test, with a Z value of -2.201 and a significance of 0.028 (p <0.05). These findings indicate that there is a significant increase in self-disclosure after group counseling services are provided. Thus, the expression writing technique is effectively used to increase self-disclosure in class XI Culinary students of SMK Negeri 1 Wonoasri, Madiun Regency.
