Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine expressive and directive speech acts on the TikTok Shop online shopping site for Skintific Beauty products. This study uses qualitative research with descriptive analysis presented in the form of descriptions according to language. Data collection techniques in this study use documentation, listening, and note-taking techniques. The data analysis technique in this study uses triangulation techniques. The results of the study show that: 1) Based on the results of the analysis of 7 videos taken from the TikTok Shop online shopping site for Skintific Beauty products, 46 expressive speech acts were found, consisting of 10 acts of gratitude and 36 acts of praise, while 103 directive speech acts consisted of 34 acts of commanding, 15 acts of ordering and 54 acts of giving advice; 2) The function of expressive speech acts found was the act of thanking and praising, while the directive speech acts consisted of ordering, ordering and giving advice; 3) The dominant speech act that emerged from 7 videos on the TikTok Shop online shopping site for Skintific Beauty products was the directive speech act, this was because the meaning of the directive speech act was to promote the product and attract buyers to take certain actions related to the product being offered.
