Abstract
This research is motivated by the low mathematical literacy of students due to the dominance of lecture methods and the limited use of technology in learning. Early observations show that students tend to be passive and learning still relies on conventional media such as package books and PowerPoint. To overcome these problems, this study aims to design and develop flipped classroom-based animation video media with the Doratoon application to optimize students' mathematical literacy. This research uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) model approach. The subjects in this study are 32 students in grades VII-B of SMP Negeri 2 Madiun for the 2024/2025 school year. The instruments used include validation sheets, teacher and student response questionnaires, observation sheets, and pretest and posttest question sheets. Data from validation, response questionnaire, and observation were analyzed using a feasibility percentage based on a 5-point Likert scale , while test data were analyzed using normality tests, Paired Sample t-tests, and N-Gain tests. The validation results showed that the media was classified as very valid, with an average score of 82.67% from media experts and 83.89% from material experts. The practicality test obtained results of 86.67% from teachers and 85.21% from students, including the category of very practical. The significance test showed a value of 0.000 < 0.05 which means that there is a significant difference between mathematical literacy before and after the use of media. The N-Gain value of 0.671 is quite effective. Thus, this media is declared valid, practical, and effective. In line with these results, further research is recommended to develop similar media on different materials or levels with a wider scope, as well as deepen the study of mathematical literacy and the effectiveness of flipped classrooms in various contexts. Keywords: animated video, flipped classroom, Doratoon, math literacy
