Abstract

TikTok nomophobia is a form of excessive anxiety felt by individuals when unable to access the TikTok application. This phenomenon is often experienced by students who intensively use social media, especially TikTok. Nomophobia is influenced by internal factors, namely seeking entertainment, self-actualization, and information, while external factors include lack of social interaction and increasing income. One of these factors is self-control and peer conformity. This study aims to determine the influence of self-control and peer conformity on TikTok nomophobia in students. This study used a quantitative approach with a correlational method and an ex-post facto design. This study sampled 69 students using random sampling. Data collection was conducted using a questionnaire consisting of three scales: self-control, peer conformity, and TikTok nomophobia. Multiple linear regression analysis was used to analyze the data. The data analysis showed a significant effect between self-control and peer conformity on TikTok nomophobia, with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. The regression coefficient indicates that self-control and peer conformity contribute almost equally to TikTok nomophobia, with self-control slightly dominant. This suggests that the higher the positive self-control and peer conformity, the lower the tendency for TikTok nomophobia in students.
