Abstract
Advances in learning technology require the development of educational media that can integrate research findings with contextual learning needs. One innovative alternative is the development of e-modules based on local research findings that present conceptual material. The study aims to develop an e-module based on research into the effects of fermentation duration on the chemical characteristics of kombucha made from genitri leaves (Elaeocarpus ganitrus), as well as to test the feasibility of the e-module as a biotechnology learning medium. The method used was a completely randomized design with one factor, namely fermentation duration. Validation by subject matter experts and media experts indicated a very high level of feasibility, at 86.67% and 95%, respectively. The experiment was conducted at the Pharmacy Biology Laboratory of Universitas PGRI Madiun with fermentation duration variations of 0, 7, 14, and 21 days. The parameters analyzed included chemical characteristics such as total acidity (%), reducing sugar (°Brix), and pH. The results showed that as the fermentation duration increased, there was an increase in total acid content from 0.295 ± 0.006% to 3.908 ± 0.081%, a decrease in reducing sugar content from 20.4 ± 1.114° Brix to 4.5 ± 0.548°Brix, and a decrease in pH from 2.82 ± 0.08 to 1.85 ± 0.12. A one-way ANOVA test showed significant differences between treatment groups (p < 0.05), supported by an LSD post-hoc test indicating significant differences between each pair of treatments. The research results were integrated into an e-module to support research-based and applied learning.
