Abstract

This study aims to explore the diversity of aquatic insect larvae in the Selo Ondo River, Ngawi, as a bioindicator of water quality and to develop an e encyclopedia product as a learning resource. The study was conducted at five observation stations using a purposive sampling method. Data collection involved field surveys and larval identification in the laboratory, focusing on morphological characteristics to classify them up to the family level. Environmental parameters such as pH, temperature, dissolved oxygen (DO), and water flow velocity were measured to assess their impact on larval diversity. The study identified 10 families from 4 orders: Diptera (Simuliidae, Chironomidae), Trichoptera (Hydropsychidae, Philopotamidae), Odonata (Euphaeidae), and Ephemeroptera (Heptageniidae, Leptophlebiidae, Isonychiidae, Tricorythidae, Baetidae). The highest diversity index (H' = 1.814) was at Station II, the highest evenness index (E = 0.787) at Station III, and the highest dominance index (C = 0.537) at Station I. Environmental parameters, including average pH (7.34), dissolved oxygen (DO) (19.78 mg/L), temperature (22.2°C), and current velocity (0.41) support the presence of sensitive taxa, indicating good water quality. The E-Encyclopedia, verified by subject-matter experts and media professionals, achieved an average score of 91.5%, demonstrating its suitability as an educational resource. This product has also been well-received by teachers and the local community, with an average response score of 90.1%. This study highlights the potential of aquatic insect larvae as bioindicators and presents the results in the form of an e-encyclopedia as a learning resource.
