Abstract
Nanda Ayu Margono. 2025. The Implementation of Project Based Learning Method in Teaching Explanatory Text Writing for Grade XI PKM Students at SMK Cendekia Madiun. Undergraduate Thesis. Study Program of Indonesian Language and Literature Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas PGRI Madiun. Supervisors: (I) Asri Musandi Waraulia, S.Pd., M.Pd., (II) Dhika Puspitasari, S.Hum., M.A. This study aims to describe the planning, implementation, and evaluation of explanatory text writing learning through the application of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model in Grade XI PKM at SMK Cendekia Madiun. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The learning plan was developed collaboratively by the Indonesian language teacher and the model teacher in designing project-based lesson plans (RPP). The implementation of learning integrated the scientific approach with the PjBL syntax, covering the introductory, core, and closing activities. Students were actively involved in group discussions, information gathering, and writing explanatory texts as the final product. The results of the study show that the implementation of the PjBL model has a positive impact on both the learning process and outcomes. Evaluation results indicate that 60% of student groups achieved the "Excellent" category, and 40% were in the "Good" category. Assessment was based on five aspects: text structure, clarity of information, language use, creativity in presentation, and group collaboration. In addition to improvements in writing skills, students also showed development in learning motivation, independence, critical thinking, and collaboration. Although there were initial challenges such as low student motivation, these were successfully addressed through consistent guidance and support from the teacher. Overall, the Project Based Learning model proved effective in enhancing the quality of explanatory text writing instruction and fostering 21st-century skills and attitudes in students.
