Abstract

The essential need for websites in the digital era has spurred a significant growth in the number of hosting and domain service providers, both global and local. However, the multitude of hosting package variations with diverse specifications, features, and prices often causes confusion for prospective website owners, potentially leading to slow performance, inefficient costs, and hindered growth. The manual selection process has proven to be time-consuming, subjective, and potentially suboptimal. To address these issues, a technological solution in the form of a Decision Support System (DSS) capable of providing effective and efficient recommendations is needed. This research aims to design and build a web-based DSS application that can recommend hosting. The Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method is systematically implemented to rank alternative hosting packages based on predetermined criteria, ensuring objective decisions. The system development process employs the Waterfall approach, through phases of requirements analysis, design, development, and testing. Data was collected through observation and literature review. Functional testing results using the Black Box method indicate that all system features, for both admin and user sides, functioned properly and ran 100% without errors, making the application ready for use. This DSS proves effective in providing measurable and systematic hosting recommendations. Nevertheless, the system has limitations regarding the criteria weighting process, which still relies on admin input, and does not yet account for dynamic external factors such as price promotions or real-time user reviews.
