Abstract

Learning is a natural process in human life and aims to bring about changes that can improve cognitive, psychomotor, and affective abilities. Elementary school learning materials essentially involve students in the thinking process. Thinking is an important part of the decision-making process. Thinking is part of cognitive ability. This study aims to investigate whether the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by Augmented Reality Globin Fun media has a significant effect compared to the PBL model assisted by printed books, as viewed from the cognitive abilities of fifth-grade students. The subjects of this study were fifth-grade students at SDN 01 Nambangan Kidul Elementary School in Madiun City. This study employs a quantitative approach. The research design uses a quasi-experimental research technique. This study uses a pretest-posttest control design. Data collection techniques include tests, teaching modules, and documentation techniques. The sampling technique used is a saturated sample technique. The sample used in this study consists of 30 students, comprising 15 fifth-grade students in class A as the experimental group and 15 fifth-grade students in class B as the control group. The results of the data analysis indicate that there is a significant difference in students' cognitive abilities when using the PBL model assisted by Augmented Reality Globin Fun media and the PBL model assisted by printed books. Therefore, the conclusion of this study is that the PBL model assisted by Augmented Reality Globin Fun media is more effective than the PBL model assisted by printed books in terms of cognitive abilities.
