Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of cooperatives in the sustainability of members as traders in Legi Market, Ngawi District, Ngawi Regency, a traditional market that provides various economic needs of the community. The focus of the study includes factors that influence the sustainability of cooperative member traders, the role of cooperatives given to them, and cooperative efforts in supporting the sustainability of their members' businesses. Qualitative methods were used with interviews, observations, and secondary data analysis. The collected data were processed using qualitative data analysis techniques, namely triangulation, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions to ensure the validity and credibility of the findings. The results show that the sustainability of traders' businesses is influenced by limited capital, market competition, solidarity among members, and effective management. Cooperatives play a significant role by providing access to capital, skills training, and building solidarity among members, which collectively contribute to increasing the competitiveness and sustainability of traders' businesses. This study confirms that cooperatives are an important instrument of economic empowerment to improve members' welfare and support local economic growth.
