Abstract

This study aims to improve critical writing skills with the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model assisted by digital media. Facts in the field show a lack of students' ability to construct sentences and generate ideas in making posters. This is known from the results of observations before the study with direct observation of learning and discussions with fifth grade teachers. The cause of the problem is that teachers in teaching have not used models and media according to student needs so that students feel bored and have difficulty understanding the material. Therefore, in an effort to improve critical writing skills, the PjBL model assisted by digital video learning media was used. This study is a type of classroom action research. The subjects in this study were 14 fifth grade students of SDN Gebyog. Data collection techniques used documentation, observation, and performance tests in the form of posters. The results showed that the learning planning of the PjBL model assisted by digital media included the creation of teaching modules and preparing digital media for learning videos. The implementation of the use of the PjBL model assisted by digital media included observation, project work, and evaluation. The improvement of critical writing skills reached 85.7% completeness with 12 students completing the course. So there was an increase in critical writing skills in grade V students of SDN Gebyog after the action was carried out.
