Abstract
Susi Tri Pantini. 2026. Improving Fine Motor Skills of Children Through Dry Leaf Collage Activities in Group A at TK Dharma Wanita Semen 4 Academic Year 2025/2026. Undergraduate Thesis. Early Childhood Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas PGRI Madiun. Advisors: (I) Dr. Noviyanti Kartika Dewi, M.Pd., (II) Sofia Nur Afifah, M.Pd. Fine motor skills are physical abilities required to execute small movements using small muscles, particularly in the hands and fingers. This study was prompted by the under-stimulated fine motor skills of children aged 5–6 years, where a lack of practice leads to sub-optimal motor development at this age, specifically at TK Dharma Wanita Semen 4. The research problems addressed in this study are how children's creativity in Group B was prior to applying the collage technique at TK Dharma Wanita Semen 4, and how the implementation of the collage technique improves the fine motor skills of children in Group A at TK Dharma Wanita Semen 4. The purpose of this study is to determine the extent of fine motor skill development in children aged 5–6 years and to identify the inhibiting factors. Furthermore, collage activities are closely linked to stimulating children's fine motor development as they primarily involve hand movements, such as pasting with glue and matching patterns, while also developing children's artistic potential. This study employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) method conducted in two cycles, each consisting of four stages: planning, action implementation, observation, as well as analysis and reflection. Fine motor skill aspects evaluated through collage activities included flexibility, neatness, patience, and concentration. The improvement in these aspects among Group A children at TK Dharma Wanita Semen 4, as indicated by the achievement of the "Very Well Developed" (BSB) category, was as follows: prior to the intervention (pre-cycle), the good category score reached 0%; in Cycle I, it increased to 14.28% in Meeting 1 and 21.42% in Meeting 2; and in Cycle II, it reached 42.85% in Meeting 1 and 50% in Meeting 2.
