Abstract

The low level of social literacy and the insufficient improvement in student learning outcomes in Social Studies (IPS) at SMPN 6 Madiun form the background of this study. One contributing factor is the use of instructional media that is insufficiently varied, not interactive enough, and has not made full use of information technology. The primary objectives of this study were: 1) to analyze and describe the improvement in social literacy of Grade VII students in Social Studies after using Google Sites as instructional media; and 2) to analyze and describe the improvement in learning outcomes of Grade VII students in Social Studies after using Google Sites as instructional media. This research was a Classroom Action Research (CAR) that implemented Google Sites media to improve social literacy and learning outcomes. The study was conducted in Grade VII at SMP Negeri 6 Madiun from January 2026 to June 2026, with four procedural research stages: (1) Planning, (2) Action, (3) Observation, and (4) Reflection. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that: (1) The use of Google Sites instructional media for class VII-G students at SMPN 6 Madiun in Social Studies learning can improve social literacy. In cycle I the average was 70%, categorized as sufficient; in cycle II social literacy data increased to an average of 80%, categorized as good. (2) The use of Google Sites instructional media for class VII G students at SMPN 6 Madiun in Social Studies learning can improve student learning outcomes. In cycle I the average score was 67, resulting in a completeness rate of 67%; in cycle II student learning outcome data increased to an average of 83, raising the completeness rate to 83%.
