Abstract
Dian Safitri. 2026. Implementation of School Literacy Movement through Reading Habit of Elementary School Students : Case Study in SD Negeri Tamanan 2 Kabupaten Magetan. Program in Indonesian Language and Literature Education, Graduate Program, Universitas PGRI Madiun. Advisor Prof. Dr. Bambang Eko Hari Cahyono, Co-Advisor M.Pd., (II) Dr. Heny Kusuma Widyaningrum, M.Pd. Keywords: School Literacy Movement, Reading Habit This study aims to describe the implementation of the School Literacy Movement (GLS) through student reading habits, including the role of schools and the obstacles faced. This research was conducted at SD Negeri Tamanan 2 Sukomoro District, Magetan Regency. The research approach applied was descriptive-qualitative with a case study type. Data collection was conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique used was an interactive data analysis model approach. The results of the study indicate that: (1) The School Literacy Movement (GLS) through students’s reading habit at SD Negeri Tamanan 2 is being implemented through several ways. Reading is encouraged on specific days for 15 minutes before the learning process begins. The school also aims to create a literacy-rich environment. Furthermore, the school is also striving to create a text-rich environment, (2) SD Negeri Tamanan 2 is undertaking various efforts to contribute to the implementation of the School Literacy Movement (GLS) through students’ reading habit. The school's role is to involve all school stakeholders and provide adequate literacy resources. The next school's role is for teachers to implement a learning approach that emphasizes literacy throughout the learning process. The school also strives to create a climate of reading literacy to achieve its goal of making the school a literate environment, and (3) SD Negeri Tamanan 2 faces several obstacles in implementing the School Literacy Movement (GLS) through students’ reading habits. These obstacles are limited time for carrying out reading activities, limited facilities and infrastructure, namely a collection of non-lesson reading materials, lack of access to involve other parties outside the school, and a lack of diverse literacy activities. Other obstacles are the allocation of funds owned by the school to support literacy activities, literacy attitudes and a climate of reading literacy in schools that have not yet formed into a literate environment, a lack of adequate literacy resources, namely the quality of teachers related to literacy knowledge, and students' interest and ability in reading that have not yet reached the expected target.
